A Dad and Daughter's Journey Back Home

A couple of months ago I received a call from Jessika (Jessie) because she and her dad were planning to move back home to Denison and they were looking for a Realtor. Her house in New Mexico had just gone on the market and her dad, Anthony, would be selling his home in Arizona. They planned to buy a home together in Denison.

We talked about the current housing market and how quickly homes were selling. There were a couple of houses they were interested in and I scheduled a virtual tour to see them. Although not ideal, virtual tours can help a buyer piece together the photos they see online and get a better ideal of space and how the home is laid out.

A week later Jessie and Anthony made a trip to Denison to see the homes as well as a couple of others that had come on the market. By this point Jessie’s house in NM was under contract so the clock was ticking on finding them a home in Denison. They decided to make an offer on one of the homes but unfortunately the sellers had just accepted another offer. We made an offer on another home, but they received multiple offers and accepted another offer as well.

In one conversation with Anthony and Jessie I found out that his wife (and Jessie’s mom) had just passed away a few months ago. He shared with me that he had told Jessie that he wanted to move back home to Denison because he wanted his “last chapter” to be in Denison. Jessie had been considering a career change anyway and told him that she would move back to Denison with him. He also told me that he has a son in Denison that he is looking forward to spending more time with as well.

They decided to make a back-up offer on the first home and it was accepted by the seller. Jessie and Anthony went back home but we knew we had to keep searching. Another home came on the market and after touring the home virtually, we made an offer and it was accepted.

The next day I was contacted by the listing agent on the other home and found out that their first contract had terminated so our back-up offer was in effect. We were now under contract on two houses so Jessie and Anthony had to decide between the home they toured while they were in Denison and the one they had only seen virtually. They decided to stick with the one they had not seen in person and we terminated the other contract.

With Jessie’s furniture already unloaded in the garage, we closed today on their new home in Denison. It was such an privilege to work with them and to be a part of getting them back home. I certainly hope that Anthony’s last chapter is a long and happy one and I’m glad that he’s getting to live it in Denison. Welcome home Anthony and Jessie!
